AN OVERDUE HISTORY OF BLANKNESS
Joshua Bird
AN OVERDUE HISTORY OF BLANKNESS furls from your
mapmaking :
a bellow beyond the lone asylum
of longitude– :
seeking inverted streetlamps :
mimic exclamation : an illuminate :
to the confused
worm-like punctuation
i have reduced thirty-four
species of tiger lilies to a punching bag : a thimble thin
constellation of ideas
•
do you make much of the still life genie :
besides : to reinforce the objects : is to reinforce the probability of
exiting a poem twice encountered
i have never understood your
still life until i became your active installation : a flourish of mirror
that only attracts another eclipse :
of moths to a blank flame : or
A BLANK PAGE is war-torn : a whisper : scripted from trees with
no laughter : only a scythe for a mouth
obscured by morels : a
parabola is ajar
•
O self-aware gas ball : i will find ways to sacrifice
even more poems to you
about the writer
Joshua Bird is. A poet by way of abandonment, his poetry is findable but unfounded. He confines his solipsistic tendencies to short bios & contrary possibilities. For more (or less): joshuabirdpoetry.com
